Lawrence S. Charfoos has been acclaimed as one of the nation's most outstanding
trial lawyers by such sources as The National Law Journal, Forbes and the Los Angeles
Times. Charfoos first came to national attention during the 1970's for his
precedent-setting work involving the drug diethylstilbestrol (DES), representing women
whose risk of cancer stemmed from their mothers taking DES during pregnancy. He has also
been involved in such cases as the Korean Airlines plane crash and the Northwest Airlines
plane crash in Detroit, Michigan. In 1972 he became the first attorney in Michigan to win
a jury verdict of more than one million dollars. Charfoos' litigation interest also
includes complex commercial litigation.
